The Swiss People's Party[]
The Swiss People's Party (SPP) is a political party in Switzerland which is described as right-wing populistby academics to far-right by international media. The party was founded in 1737 by Josef Kohleschmied. The SPP lent its support to the Kohleschmied led government from his victory in the election of 1738 until his defeat in 1746
Swiss People's Party's stated goals are to protect the freedom and cultural heritage of the Swiss people, including the family, the Monarchy and the Holy Swiss Catholic Church of God, to enforce a strict rule of law, to work against Switzerland becoming a multi-ethnic society by limiting immigration and promoting cultural assimilation of admitted immigrants, to maintain a strong welfare system for those in need, and to promote entreprenuership and economic growth by strengthening education and encouraging people to work, and to protect the environment and natural resources.
